(and a Guacamole Recipe That Is Un-bee-lievably Delicious)

Yes, summer is coming to a close, but that just means (in the Northeast, at least) you can finally sit outside without melting in the sun. It’s the perfect time to whip up a pitcher of margaritas and head outdoors.

If you’ve read my previous posts, you know that I am not a fan of alcoholic drinks, but I do love mocktails, as they elevate the drinking experience without any of the downsides. Over the years I have found some products that are very tasty, but I hadn’t come across one that could replace tequila in any meaningful, sophisticated way…Until now.

Recently, I visited a store, Moxologie, which specializes in non-alcoholic products and the proprietor recommended an alcohol free tequila called DHOS Blanco Tequila Free (p.s. It’s gluten free as well!). I wanted to purchase it right there and then, but she had sold out (a great sign!), so on my next visit, I bought a bottle. Over the holiday weekend, I made my husband and I margaritas using a recipe I found online, which I tweaked a bit. How was it, you ask? So good that my husband only got to try a few sips of his drink, as once I finished mine, I started sipping his and couldn’t stop. If you’re a margarita fan (as I am) you simply must try this product and recipe. You will be so glad you did!

Buzz-Free Margarita Recipe:

The following recipe makes one glass:

  • 3 Tablespoons of DHOS Blanco Tequila Free
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Orange Juice (pulp free)
  • 5 Tablespoons of Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice (about 2 limes)
  • Sparkling Water (Pellegrino) or Seltzer
  • Ice
  • Salt (if you like to salt the rim of the glass)

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle some salt for dipping purposes
  2. Squeeze the lime juice and set a little bit of it (about a teaspoon) aside in which to dip the rim of your glass.
  3. Dip the rim of your glass in the lime juice and then dip the rim of the glass into the salt bowl, making sure to coat the entire rim with the salt
  4. Add the measured quantities of DHOS Blanco Tequila Free, Orange Juice, and Lime Juice to your glass
  5. Add a few ice cubes to the glass
  6. Fill the rest of the glass with some sparkling water (I like Pellegrino) or seltzer
  7. Stir with a spoon

Enjoy!

This delicious drink is great on it’s own, but even better with some homemade guacamole and chips. Here’s a great guac recipe that mimics the one served at Besito Restaurants (they make the best guac!). Tip: You can use the left over lime juice from the margarita recipe to make this delicious dip:

An Un-bee-lievably Delicious Guacamole Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 Ripe Avocados, mashed
  • 1 Tomato, chopped
  • 1 Shallot, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 Handful of Cilantro (optional)*, freshly chopped
  • 1-2 jalapeños (optional) Note: The seeds and ribs give it the jalapeño “heat”, so decide if you want to use them or not.

*Did you know that our genes determine whether or not we like cilantro? To some people (like me) cilantro tastes like soap, to others it does not. You’ll know right away which camp you fall into!)

Directions:

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix. Serve chilled and with salted tortilla chips. Don’t forget your buzz-free margarita!

I hope you enjoy these recipes. In honor of the September 10, 2026 release of Practical Magic 2, which I plan to see very soon, I’m probably going to make another round of margarita’s next weekend (albeit not at midnight!). Spoiler alert: I will be posting my review of the film next week. I’m a huge fan of the first film, so I hope the sequel doesn’t disappoint!
